![]() ![]() All but one of us ordered varying versions of the barbecue combo the special snowflake among us ordered the hoagie, which came with a baked potato. The onion rings were also solid (mostly because the onions inside were actually soft enough to rip apart instead of the chewy stringy mess that usually characterizes onion rings). We had to order two because it was just THAT GOOD. The jalapeno cornbread was out of this world - how do you even describe cornbread that fluffy and that buttery? It was a bit saltier than I expected out of cornbread but I loved it nonetheless - the jalapeno gave it a nice smoky kick. Now, the food deserves its own adoring paragraph because it was unbelievable. We split a bottle of Sauvignon and then ordered some of their specialty cocktails - the Kansas City lemonade was excellently sweet and refreshing on a humid day. The place was pretty poppin' for a Thursday night, but our waitress came by multiple times to check in on us and bring us things we needed. The wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful, which is a huge bonus. It's dimly lit, so no one has to see you shamefully slide your way out of the restaurant on your belly because you ate so much. It's hugely spacious with tons of tables and booths and built sort of like an old-timey railroad station. Boy, we really need not have anticipated a second meal after the one we had here.įirst off, the place is so cool. I was in town for a conference with three colleagues/friends and we decided we'd hit up Jack Stack for an early dinner and then enjoy a late second dinner. ![]() If you want what I imagine is the most singularly incredible barbecue culinary experience of your life, then Jack Stack is where you should be. ![]() This place is amazing and probably even more so if you actually eat barbecue. Our waitress was incredibly attentive despite how busy it was. They are slightly thicker than standard fries but I appreciated the extra girth. I tried GF's fries and they were crispy and seasoned deliciously. It was creamy, the noodles were the perfect texture, and the bbq drizzle on top added a flavorful touch. The kansas city lemonade had a nice kick and was enjoyable. The bloody mary was delicious with an incredibly smoky flavor. From their cocktail menu, I ordered a kansas city lemonade and GF ordered their bloody mary. GF ordered the burnt ends entree with a side of fries and beans. It was easy to me to narrow down what I could eat from a place like this but I ultimately ordered the smoked jalapeno cornbread, mac and cheese (which they were able to accommodate without the customary pulled pork), and broccoli with roasted garlic butter. Because obviously we were, we were taken to a high top next to the bar immediately and waited a few minutes for it to be cleaned up from the previous guests. Somebody approached us from the side and asked if we would be willing to sit at the bar. We arrived at around 7pm and were initially told the wait would be an hour and a half, which we were willing to do. We went on 4th of July which predictably was a very popular day for BBQ. We heard KC has incredible BBQ and a close friend of ours from KC recommended this place. We had an amazing time at Jack Stack and I am a vegetarian so that really says something. ![]()
